Thinking About Attending Your First Meeting?

Here are answers to some frequently-asked questions:

  1. Bring your kids, unless the meeting is Dads’ Night Out.
  2. There are usually only four or five dads at any play date.
  3. Nobody will be there selling anything, and we do not hold (or talk about) any particular political, religious, or educational views. We just hang out, catch up, and run around after the kids.
  4. If the meeting is outdoors and the weather may be crummy, find out where the “In Case of Rain” backup location is. We are going to try to add that to the meeting details.

You can count on special meetings, such as holiday trips to the Seattle Center or the ferry rides, as being well-attended. Those meetings are carefully organized and popular. Fifteen or sixteen is the most dads we’ve ever had at any one play date, but six is more common.

Other meetings, such as the regular monthly play dates, the organizer will not spend as much energy and effort coordinating. It’s always a good idea to contact the organizer ahead of time so he knows you are coming, especially if you will be attending one of those casual meetings.
