About Us
We are a group of dads in the Seattle area who stay at home to raise our children, or who are the primary care-givers for our children. We do not hold any particular political, religious, or educational views. We are just a bunch of guys who ended up raising our kids. The group was founded in 2004, and has coordinated more than two hundred meetings among stay-at-home dads in the Seattle area.
It's not that unusual: the US Census Bureau reported in 2003 that there are 105,000 married fathers with children under 15 who are not in the labor force primarily so they can care for the family while their wives work outside the home. These fathers cared for 189,000 children in 2002. In fact, there are 2 million preschoolers cared for by their fathers more hours than by any other child-care provider while their mothers are at work. This amounts to about 1-in-5 preschoolers of employed mothers.
